Description

For more than a decade, the City of Arlington has been working to improve safety and mobility for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians on 67th Avenue NE.   Constructed in 2013/2014, the 67th Ave Final Phase project is a one mile improvement to a major arterial roadway within Arlington.  Improvements between Lebanon St and 204th Street included

  • A new roadway with a center-turn lane and traffic signal at 211th Place NE
  • Completion of the Centennial Trail within Arlington city limits
  • New sidewalks and lighting
  • Improved stormwater treatment, new fish-passable culverts and wetland improvements
  • New gateway features leading to Arlington's Business District
  • Upgraded railroad crossing at Lebanon Street

On Saturday, June 7, the City celebrated the opening of the new 67th Avenue roadway and Centennial Trail. State Senator Kirk Pearson and Mayor Barbara Tolbert commemorated the occasion with speeches and showed their appreciation for the businesses on 67th Avenue. Attendees enjoyed refreshments as they learned more about the project’s benefits and compared how the roadway looked before and after construction – it’s quite a change!

The City of Arlington is proud of the work completed and would like to thank you for your patience during this critical safety and mobility improvement project.

Project Funding

The final phase of this project is fully funded through a combination of local, state and federal funding sources. In late 2011, the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) awarded a grant of nearly $6 million to the City of Arlington. This was the largest grant awarded by the TIB in 2011 and recognizes the quality of work performed by city and project staff throughout the planning and design phases of the project.
