Description:

The City of Arlington is seeking an artist or artist team to develop a site-specific artwork as part of the 172nd Street/ 43rd Avenue Roundabout Project.   This new road development project provides a place for a sculpture in the roundabout.  Located in the Smokey Point area on a major highway (SR 531 also known as 172nd Street) near Arlington Airport, inside the City of Arlington, in the ever developing industrial area (Cascade Industrial Center).   This will be one of a series of roundabouts on this state highway.  

The artist or artist team will be expected to develop an artwork relevant to the neighborhood and business center which artwork is located. The theme of the project could be industrial, airport or Smokey Point related. Artists are encouraged to contemplate and interpret this theme in the development of their artwork.

Budget: 
 
The City has a public art fund to support this project. 
 The total project budget for artwork is $25,000.  The allotted funds must cover all costs related to the supply of the work(s) of art including design, engineering, lighting, fabrication, transportation and delivery, insurance, artist’s fee and taxes.  The City is responsible for site preparation and installation.
