Arlington Police Officers Mike Ellis and Kendahl Metcalfe, along with K-9 partner Tara, are currently assisting at the Washington Law Enforcement Explorer Academy (WLEEA). WLEEA is an organization which gathers law enforcement explorer scouts from agencies throughout Washington State to learn more about law enforcement and receive training.
The academy is located in Yakima and is six days in length. The 189 explorers in attendance range from 14 to 21 years of age, and are part of the 38 law enforcement agencies from across Washington. Officer Ellis is currently the president of WLEEA and is in the initial stages of bringing back the explorer program to the City of Arlington.
