In honor of Fire Prevention Week, the City received a donation of flags to be hung on Olympic Avenue. The Thin Red Line Flags honor our firefighters that run towards the most dangerous and deadly situations. The thin red line represents the men and women that risk their lives to rescue the public from the roar and destruction of fire. The striking black background of the flag reminds us of all the fallen firefighters that have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our families safe. We thank the firefighters of Arlington Fire and all of our partner agencies for their service.

This year's Fire Prevention Week theme is "Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!" Arlington Fire will be teaching fire prevention basics at Arlington elementary schools this week, including planning and practicing your fire escape plans. If you have students at Eagle Creek, Kent Prairie, Presidents, or Pioneer elementary schools, your student will be coming home with materials to plan your fire escape route. We hope you will take the time to map this out and practice with your child(ren).

Arlington Fire's Facebook page will be featuring some of the classroom visits we make. We hope you will take the time to check out the photos!
