Sergeant Gilbert receives officer of year award from Chief Ventura

The Arlington Police Department’s annual award ceremony was held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center. The Department honored community members, volunteers, and other city staff for their contributions in supporting the Arlington Police Department and its mission. In addition, a number of officers were recognized for their hard work, efforts, and excellence in 2019.

At the end of the evening, Sergeant Mike Gilbert was named the 2019 Officer of the Year by Deputy Chief Dan Cone and Chief Jonathan Ventura. Since 2003, the Arlington Police Department has honored employees who display unusual excellence during the course of that year. Employees are awarded this distinction after being nominated by their peers and or supervisory staff, and upon the concurrence of the command staff. Employees who receive this honor display the highest values of the police profession including Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Professionalism, and Innovation.
