Current Projects

Jensen Park Restroom and Parking Lot Expansion Project


August 2025:  The City has a design for a restroom building at Jensen Park and expansion of the parking lot.  Contractors began work the week of August 18, 2025. Snohomish County has funded $100,000 to support the project.

Jensen Park Bike Pump Track


10-31-2025: Arlington Rotary Club has raised funds for a bike pump track to be located in the open space at the park.  The City of Arlington Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission included a bicycle pump track in the master plan of Jensen Park.  Snohomish County is providing funds to support the project.

City Council will review a contract for construction of the bike track at the November 3, 2025 City Council meeting. 

The public was invited to respond to an online survey about the design of the track in April 2025.

Pickleball Courts:

The City of Arlington is installing 5 outdoor pickleball courts at Haller Middle School (at the east end of the gymnasium) in partnership with Snohomish County and the School District. Snohomish County has funded $200,000 to support the project. The courts will be available to the pubic (when completed) when the middle school is not in session.

10-31-2025: The pickleball court construction is almost complete. The contractor is installing the permanent fence and net posts this week. Next week work will include continued installation of the permanent fence, removal of the temporary fence, and possible painting and striping of the courts depending on weather.

 


Past Projects

  • 2025 Summer:  York Park off-leash dog area- The City of Arlington Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission dedicated a lot at York Park for an off-leash dog park.  
  • 2025  September:  The Sundial Project, a public art project to create a sundial at the Stormwater Wetland Park, to enhance the round concrete foundation at the park and to add intrigue and an education element for visitors.  Created by artists Peter Whited and Lin McJunkin. 
  • 2025:  Construction of the Smokey Point Community Park.
  • 2024:  The 1989 Centennial Fountain was refurbished in 2024 by original artist Charles Bigger, Steel Fab, and Haus Granite Co. 
  • July 2022:  A new shelter was added to Haller Park at the concession area. 
  • August 2021: Reconstruction of Evans Park: Work includes new backstop, sidewalks, curbing around playground, wood chips in playground, new bleachers, new dugouts, re-roof restrooms, painting buildings.
  • 2020: Centennial Trail– Railroad Crossing at 67th Avenue NE and 191st Street NE:  Work entails reconstruction and realignment of the Centennial Trail railroad crossing and installation of an advanced warning system.
  • 2018-20019:  Haller Park Splash Pad: Construction of a splash pad and other associated improvements in Haller Park. The Splash Pad opened on Memorial Day weekend 2019.
  • 2019: Terraces at Terrace Park: Rebuilding of the terraces and access walkway at Terrace Park. Funding provide by Snohomish County. The project construction was completed in September 2019. 
  • Pocket Park at the Innovation Center Project:  The City purchased a garage at 404 N Olympic Avenue, home of theLab@arlington with NW Innovation Resource Center, and public restrooms and a "pocket park" at this location.

Future Projects

Haller Park

The final phase of the renovation of Haller Park includes the construction of a stage for events and paving the gravel parking lot. This project is dependent on funding.

Country Charm Conservation Area

The City of Arlington purchased this property to preserve floodplain processes and fish and wildlife habitat, and to provide recreational opportunities for the citizens of Arlington and the surrounding community. The County Charm Park is approximately 140 acres.

Future plans for this park could include:  a campground, walking trails, dog park, trout pond, playfields Development of park components is dependent on funding.

Riverfront Master Plan

The City completed a Riverfront Master Plan that identifies current park and recreation opportunities and proposed elements. A goal of the Riverfront Master Plan is to improve connections and access between recreation opportunities and services and to identify future uses for this unique area along the Stillaguamish River. The connections include: Country Charm Park, Twin Rivers Park, Haller Park, Stormwater Wetland Park, retail properties, Centennial Trail, and connector trails.
