2023 Utility Improvement & Pavement Preservation Project

Project Description

The City of Arlington will be continuing to upgrade its waterlines and resurface roadways in Arlington during the summer of 2023. This project will include replacement of old waterlines followed by repaving of selected roadways, as well as updates to ADA pedestrian crossing ramps.

May 18, 2023 - Bid opening
August 4, 2023 - Next week, grinding and paving in Gleneagle will begin on Monday along South Cedarbough Loop then move to Woodbine Dr. Construction will occur Monday – Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Local access traffic will be allowed during construction for people that live on these streets only. Woodlands Way will be open for through traffic. Please use alternate routes if able and expect delays to your travel times if driving through the construction area during these hours.
August 11, 2023 - This week, grinding and paving in Gleneagle began on Monday along South Cedarbough Loop and Woodbine Drive. Over the next two weeks the City’s contractor will continue to work in the Gleneagle neighborhood with iron raising along South Cedarbough Loop and Woodbine Drive. Construction will occur Monday – Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Local access traffic will be allowed during construction for people that live on these streets only. Woodlands Way will be open for through traffic. Please use alternate routes and expect delays to your travel times if driving through the construction area during these hours.
August 18, 2023 - This week, the City’s contractor continued work in the Gleneagle neighborhood with iron raising along South Cedarbough Loop and Woodbine Drive. No work is scheduled next week to allow for the pavement to cure before permanent striping can be installed. Permanent striping is estimated to be completed the week of August 28^th.
August 25, 2023 - Work in the Gleneagle neighborhood will be finishing up with permanent striping scheduled for the week of September 4^th. The City’s contractor will begin work on the water line replacements along 59^th Ave, 195^th St, and 66^th Ave the following week.
September 1, 2023 - Permanent striping is scheduled for next week in the Gleneagle neighborhood from Tuesday to Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. This work is weather dependent. The City’s contractor is scheduled to begin work on the water line replacements along 59^th Ave, 195^th St, and 66^th Ave the week of September 11th.
September 15, 2023 - Permanent roadway striping in the Gleneagle neighborhood was completed this week. The City’s contractor will return to do the final striping of the golf path once the materials arrive. No work will occur next week while the City’s contractor awaits the arrival of materials to begin work on the water line replacement along 59^th Ave, north of 192^nd St, and along 195^th St.
September 22, 2023 - No work is scheduled to occur next week while the City’s contractor awaits the arrival of delayed materials. Once materials arrive, work will begin on the water line replacement along 59^th Ave, north of 192^nd St, and along 195^th St.

December 1, 2023 - Next week the City’s contractor will continue work along 59^th Ave and 195^th St connecting the new water main to the City’s water system and making service connections. Construction will occur Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Please expect delays if driving in the construction area. December 8, 2023 - Next week the City’s contractor will continue work along 59^th Ave and 195^th St making service connections to the new water main and begin the replacement of the water main along 66^th Ave NE. Construction will occur Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. During construction hours, 66^th Ave will have single lane access with flaggers to control traffic. Please expect delays if driving in the construction area. Access to businesses will be allowed at all times during construction.
December 15, 2023 - This week the City’s contractor finished service connections to the new water main along 59^th Ave and 195^th St and began the replacement of the water main along 66^th Ave NE. Next week work will continue on the water main installation along 66^th Ave. Construction will occur Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. During construction hours, 66^th Ave will have single lane access with flaggers to control traffic. Please expect delays if driving in the construction area. Access to businesses will be allowed at all times during construction.
December 29, 2023 - No work occurred this week for the holidays. Construction is scheduled to resume January 2^nd with the water line replacement along 66^th Ave NE. Flaggers will be onsite to control traffic. Construction is scheduled Tuesday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
January 5, 20204 - Work resumed this week after the holidays with the water main replacement along 66^th Ave NE. Next week work will continue on 66^th Ave with the water main installation and the hydrant and service connections. Flaggers will be onsite to control traffic. Construction is scheduled Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
January 12, 2024 - Work continued this week with the completion of the water main replacement and testing of the water line along 66^th Ave NE. Next week’s work will include connections to the new water main and paving of the base layer. Flaggers will be onsite to control traffic. Construction is scheduled Tuesday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
January 19, 2024 - Due to the weather no work was completed this week. Next week’s work will include connections to the new water main and paving of the base layer. Flaggers will be onsite to control traffic. Construction is scheduled Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
February 9, 2024 - No work is scheduled to occur next week due to the forecasted weather. Work will continue with paving along 59^th Ave and 195^th St when the weather allows.
February 23, 2024 - With the nice weather today, the City's contractor will be paving 59th Ave north of 192nd St and 195th today between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. No work is scheduled next week due to the forecasted weather. Grinding and paving along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing will occur when the weather allows.
March 8, 2024 - No work is scheduled next week due to the forecasted weather. Grinding and paving along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing will occur when the weather allows.
March 15, 2024 - On Monday, March 18^th the City’s contractor will be installing the final striping along 59^th Ave north of 192^nd St. and along 195^th St. Grinding and paving along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad is scheduled for April 3^rd to April 5^th weather permitting.
March 29, 2024 - Next week grinding and paving along 204^th Street east of 67^th Avenue to the railroad is scheduled for April 3^rd to April 5^th. This work will require a one-day detour for traffic heading eastbound along 204^th Street NE while the contractor paves the eastbound lane. Westbound traffic will be flagger controlled. This work is weather permitting and is subject to change.
April 4, 2024 - Due to the weather change, grinding and paving was postponed this week along 204^th Street east of 67^th Avenue to the railroad. No work is scheduled for next week due to the forecasted weather. This work will be rescheduled when the weather permits.
May 2, 2024 - No work is scheduled for next week. Grinding and paving along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing is currently scheduled for May 20, weather permitting. Paving is estimated to be completed within 3 working days between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. If you are traveling in this area during construction, please expect delays. Traffic will be flagger controlled or detours will be in place.
May 10, 2024 - No work is scheduled for next week. Grinding and paving along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing is currently scheduled for May 20, weather permitting. Paving is estimated to be completed within 3 working days between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. If you are traveling in this area during construction, please expect delays. Traffic will be flagger controlled or detours will be in place.
May 17, 2024 - Grinding and paving along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing is scheduled to begin Monday, May 20th. Work is estimated to be completed within 3 working days between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. If you are traveling in this area during construction, please expect delays. Traffic will be flagger controlled heading westbound and a detour route will be in place for vehicles heading eastbound. This work is weather dependent.
May 24, 2024 - The City’s contractor completed the grinding and paving with temporary striping along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing on Monday. Final striping will occur in approximately three weeks to give the pavement the appropriate time to cure.
May 31, 2024 - No work was completed this week. Final striping will occur along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing in approximately two weeks to give the pavement the appropriate time to cure.
June 7, 2024 - No work was completed this week. Final striping is scheduled to occur along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing on Wednesday, June 12^th. Flaggers will be onsite to control traffic, please expect delays when traveling in this area.
June 14, 2024 - The 2023 Utility Improvement and Pavement Preservation project was completed on Wednesday, June 12^th with the installation of the final striping along 204^th St east of 67^th Ave to the railroad crossing.
