211th Place Corridor Improvements

Project Description

The City of Arlington is improving the 211th Place corridor from SR 530 to 67th Avenue NE. This project will include a 12-foot-wide multiuse trail along the southside of the street, street lighting, landscaping, ADA curb ramps, low-impact drainage, updates to the water mains, and repaving of the roadway. The project will also be implementing improvements to the 67th Avenue and 211th Place intersection for improved turning movements.

  • January 23, 2023 - Online survey open until February 20th.
  • February 21, 2023 - Online survey closed. 
  • July 20, 2023 - Please join us for an informational event in the neighborhood to learn more about this project! Come enjoy hot dogs and play some games.   Families welcome!  When: July 20th, 5-7pm Where: Corner of 211th Place NE and 67th Drive NE (Entrance of Pioneer Meadows neighborhood)
  • August 8, 2023 - The 30% design was submitted for city review. Utility coordination continues as well as Geotechnical exploration for wall and roadway design.  
  • February 26, 2024 - Open House is scheduled for March 20th from 6-8PM at the 110 E Third St (City Council Chambers).
  • July 18, 2024 - Bid opened 
  • October 9, 2024 - The City’s contractor will begin work tomorrow, Thursday, October 10th on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement Project with tree removal along the southside of 211th Place east of 67th Drive for approximately 200 feet. This work will occur Thursday and Friday and will require a single lane closure in the work area. Traffic will be flagger controlled during construction between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Please expect delays to your travel in this area during these times.
  • October 11, 2024 - The City’s contractor began work on Thursday, October 10th on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement Project with tree removal along the southside of the roadway between 67th Ave and 67th Dr.  Next week work will continue with, stump removal, gas line relocation, and partial removal of the “old cattle crossing” (an 8-foot diameter concrete culvert). This work will occur in the same area as the previous week and will require a single lane closure. Traffic will be mechanically flagger controlled with a signal and a camera monitoring traffic in both directions during construction between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Please expect travel delays in this area during these times.
  • October 18, 2024 - This week construction on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement Project continued with stump removal, gas line relocation, and partial removal of the “old cattle crossing” (an 8-foot diameter concrete culvert). No work will occur next week while the contractor awaits PUD line work to be completed.
  • November 8, 2024 - This week work continued on the 211th Place Corridor project with PUD and Cascade Natural Gas onsite to complete tree trimming and relocate the gas line. Next week PUD is scheduled to drop lines and move PUD power poles. Please expect traffic control in this area while work is being completed.
  • November 15, 2024 - This week PUD began dropping electrical lines on Friday due to the inclement weather this past week. Next week PUD will continue with line dropping. The week of November 25th, the City’s contractor will start work along the west end of the project limits between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd). The contractor is scheduled to work Monday – Wednesday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work will include roadway excavation and preparation for drilling of the soldier pile retaining wall along the southside of the project. This work will begin the first road closure of the project between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd. This closure will be in place for approximately 65 days. Please use the approved detour route during this phase of the project.
  • November 27, 2024 - No work will be completed next week due to PUD still working on electrical outages caused by the last week’s windstorm. At this time construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 9th, depending on PUD’s availability. The City’s contractor will begin work along the west end of the project limits between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd). The contractor is scheduled to work Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Work will include roadway excavation and preparation for drilling of the soldier pile retaining wall along the southside of the project. This work will begin the first road closure of the project between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd. This closure will be in place for approximately 65 days. Please use the approved detour route for local access only during this phase of the project.  All freight traffic and access to the city will be routed into town via SR-530.
  • December 6, 2024 - This week PUD was able to complete their work with the electrical line drop.  The City’s contractor will begin work on Monday, December 9th along the west end of the project limits between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd). The contractor is scheduled to work Monday –Thursday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Work will include clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation and preparation for drilling of the soldier pile retaining wall along the southside of the project. This work will begin the first road closure of the project between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd). This 24 hour/7 day a week closure will be in place for approximately 65 days. Local traffic please use the approved detour route during this phase of the project.  All freight traffic and city access will be routed into town via SR-530.
  • December 13, 2024 - The City’s contractor began work on Monday, December 9th along the west end of the project limits between SR 530 and 66th Ave NE (Ronning Rd). This began the first road closure of the project between SR 530 and 66thAve NE (Ronning Rd). This 24 hour/7 day a week road closure will be in place for approximately 65 days. Work this week included clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation and preparation for drilling of the soldier pile retaining wall along the southside of the project. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Friday with stormwater work between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.Please use the updated detour route. Trucks, please follow designated detour route down SR 530.
  • December 20, 2024 - The City's contractor continued work this week with the stormwater detention pond. No work is scheduled to occur the next two weeks due to the Holidays. Work will resume the week of January 6th.
  • January 3, 2025 - The City’s contractor will resume construction on Monday, January 6thafter a two week break for the holidays. Work is scheduled to occur Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM and will include site preparation for the soldier pile wall and installation of stormwater pipe.
  • January 10, 2025 - The City’s contractor resumed construction on Monday, January 6th. Work included site preparation for the soldier pile wall and installation of stormwater pipe. Next week work will continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Work will include installation of the soldier pile wall, stormwater pond excavation, stormwater pipe installation, electrical for illumination, and water main installation.  
  • January 17, 2025 - This week the City’s contractor continued construction with the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday-Friday.  Work included drilling for the soldier pile wall, installation of stormwater pipe, Stormwater Pond excavation, watermain installation, and installation of electrical infrastructure for illumination. Next week work will continue Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Work will include installation of the soldier pile wall, stormwater pond excavation, electrical work for illumination, water main testing, and roadway grading.  
  • January 24, 2025 - This week the City’s contractor continued construction on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Tuesday-Friday.  Work included installation of the soldier pile wall, stormwater pipe, watermain, and electrical infrastructure for illumination. Next week work will continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Work will include installation of the concrete facia panel, waterline testing, concrete curb prep and installation, and roadway grading.  All concrete work is weather dependent. 
  • February 7, 2025 - This week work continued on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday-Friday.  Work included water-ties, Stormwater Pond excavation, grading, and clearing and grubbing for phase 2. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Work will include curb prep and installation on the southside of the roadway, ADA curb ramp installation, and Stormwater Pond overflow curb installation in phase 1 if weather permits. Work will also include concrete demolition and concrete cattle culvert demolition in phase 2. This work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Please expect shot delays to your travel time and continue to use the designated detour route.
  • February 13, 2024 - This week work continued on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday-Friday.  Work included stormwater pond excavation, stormwater pond overflow curb installation, roadway grading, curb installation on the southside of the roadway, demolition and removal of the cattle crossing culvert, and stormwater catch basin installation. Next week work is scheduled to continue Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include installation of the concrete fascia on the soldier pile wall, sanitary sewer force main installation, and PUD tree trimming. The contractor will also be working within the Phase 2 area installing the water main from Ronning Rd to 67thDr; this work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Please expect short delays to your travel time. The Phase 1 reopening has been delayed due to weather impacts and Snohomish PUD’s delay in completing their power pole relocation work. The City is awaiting the PUD’s pole relocation schedule to determine the impact the delay will have on the Phase 1 reopening. Please continue to use the designated detour route.
  • February 21, 2025 - Work continued this week on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Tuesday-Friday.  Work included stormwater pond excavation and grading, installation of the concrete fascia on the soldier pile wall, PUD tree trimming and the beginning of the PUD pole relocation. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include concrete wall work, curb grading on the north side of 211th in Phase 2 (Ronning Rd to 67th Dr NE), and continued PUD pole relocation. Phase 2 work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Please expect short delays to your travel time.
  • February 28, 2025 - Work continued this week on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday-Thursday.  Work included concrete block wall installation, installation of water infrastructure (mains, fire hydrants, and service lines), and PUD pole relocation and other utilities. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include continued installation of concrete block retaining wall, roadway grading for curbs, concrete curb installation, textured concrete installation, and continued PUD utility pole relocation. Phase 2 work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Please expect delays to your travel time. Please continue to use the designated detour route
  • March 7, 2025 - This week work continued on the 211thPlace Corridor Improvement project Monday-Thursday.  Work included concrete block wall installation, waterline testing, installation of textured concrete, ADA curb ramp installation, painting of the concrete fascia wall, PUD pole relocation, and other utility relocations. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include continued installation of concrete block retaining wall, installation of the new wastewater force main, water line tie-ins, roadway grading, concrete curb installation, roadway base rock installation, illumination installation, and continued utility relocations. Phase 2 work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Please expect delays to your travel time.The Phase 1 reopening has been tentatively scheduled for the first week in April. Please continue to use the designated detour route.
  • March 14, 2025 - Work continued this week in Phases 1 and Phase 2 on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project.  Work included concrete block wall installation, waterline tie-ins, roadway curb installation, continued utility relocations, roadway excavation, installation of the new sanitary sewer force main from the west end of the project to 66th Ave (Ronning Rd), grading of the roadway, and prep for Phase 1 paving.  Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include installation of the new sanitary sewer force main from 66th Ave (Ronning Rd) to 67th Dr, continued utility relocations, grading of the roadway, illumination installation, roadway curb installations, and paving of the roadway in Phase 1. All concrete and paving work is weather dependent. Grading and paving of Phase 1 will also include the intersection at 66th Ave (Ronning Rd), please expect longer than normal wait times when this work is being completed. Phase 2 work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Please expect delays to your travel time.
  • March 21, 2025 - This week work continued in Phase 1 and Phase 2 on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project.  Work included installation of the new sanitary sewer force main from 66th Ave (Ronning Rd) to 67th Dr, continued utility relocations, grading of the roadway, illumination installation, roadway curb installations, milling of the roadway, and prep for Phase 1 paving.  Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include installation of textured concrete, tie-in of the sanitary sewer force main, stormwater installation, and paving of the roadway in Phase 1. All concrete and paving work is weather dependent. Paving of Phase 1 will also include the intersection at 66th Ave (Ronning Rd) please expect longer than normal wait times when this work is being completed. Phase 2 work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Phase 1 reopening has been tentatively scheduled for April 7th. 
  • March 28, 2025 - Work continued this week on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project.  Work included the tie-in of the new sanitary sewer force main, continued utility relocations, installation of textured concrete, grading of the roadway, placing of base rock, and paving of the base layer in Phase 1.  Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work will include fence installation, landscaping, electrical work for the lighting system, stormwater installation, guardrail installation, temporary striping, and paving of the final lift in Phase 1. Paving of Phase 1 will also include the intersection at 66th Ave (Ronning Rd) please expect longer than normal wait times when this work is being completed. Phase 2 work will require single lane closures and will be flagger controlled. Paving and temporary striping is weather dependent. The Phase 1 opening has been tentatively scheduled for April 7th. Please continue to use the designated detour route until the opening. Once Phase 1 is open, Phase 2 will close to thru traffic. A detour route will be available next week.
  • April 4, 2025 - This week work continued on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project.  Work included fence installation, landscaping, electrical work for the lighting system, stormwater installation, guardrail installation, paving of the final lift in Phase 1, and temporary striping.  Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Phase 1 will open to local traffic only on Monday, April 7th. Once Phase 1 is open, Phase 2 (66th Ave to 67th Dr) will be closed to thru traffic from Hwy 530 to 67th Ave. Please use designated detour route during this phase. Phase 2 work is estimated to take approximately three weeks.  Work will include stormwater installation, electrical trenching, roadway excavation, grading for curbs, and placing of the base rock.
  • April 11, 2025 -  Work continued this week on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday - Friday.  Work included the opening of Phase 1 (SR530 to 66th Ave), the closure of Phase 2 (66th Ave to 67th Dr), stormwater infiltration installation, utility relocation, roadway excavation, placing of base rock, grading for curbs, and exploratory trenching and concrete demolition in Phase 3 (67th Dr to 67th Ave).  Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued utility relocation, grading for textured concrete, pouring of curb and gutter and textured concrete (weather dependent), and final grading of roadway in Phase 2.
  • April 18, 2025 - Construction continued this week on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday - Thursday.  Phase 2 (66th Ave to 67th Dr) work included continued utility relocation, grading for textured concrete, pouring of curb and gutter and textured concrete, and final grading of roadway and trail.  Phase 3 (67th Dr to 67th Ave) work included stormwater infiltration installation, demolition of the curb at the intersection of 67th Ave, clearing and grubbing, and roadway excavation. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include water tie-ins, pouring of textured concrete and curb and gutter, waterline relocation, sewer line installation, and paving of roadway in Phase 2. Work will also include water main installation and utility relocation in Phase 3. Phase 3 work will require single lane closures with flagger-controlled traffic.
  • April 25, 2025 - This week construction continued on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday - Thursday.  Phase 2 (66th Ave to 67th Dr) work included grading for textured concrete, pouring of the textured concrete, water line relocation, installation of the sewer gravity line, and final grading of roadway and trail. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include landscaping, guardrail installation, and paving of roadway in Phase 2. Work will also include electrical, and watermain installation in Phase 3. Phase 3 work will require single lane closures with flagger-controlled traffic. Phase 2 is estimated to open on Friday, May 2. Once Phase 2 is open Phase 3 will close to thru traffic. Phase 3 is estimated to take 3 weeks. Please continue to use the Phase 2 designated detour route.
  • May 2, 2025 - Construction continued this week on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday - Thursday.  Phase 2 (66th Ave to 67th Dr) work included paving of the roadway, guardrail grading and installation, and landscaping. Phase 3 work included the installation of the gravity sanitary sewer main and sanitary sewer force main. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include clearing and grubbing, continued sanitary sewer gravity main and force main installation, testing of the sanitary sewer mains, and installation of manholes in Phase 3. Phase 2 will open on Monday, May 5. Once Phase 2 is open Phase 3 will close to thru traffic. Phase 3 is estimated to take 3 to 4 weeks. Those that live within the closure area (between 67th Dr and 67th Ave) will have access to their residences. Please use the Phase 3 designated detour route.
  • May 9, 2025 - Phase 2 opened to local traffic on Monday, May 5, beginning the closure of Phase 3 (67th Dr to 67th Ave). Please use the Phase 3 designated detour route when driving in this area.  Construction continued this week Monday – Thursday. Work included clearing and grubbing, continued sanitary sewer gravity main and force main installation, and utility relocations. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include, testing and tie-ins of the sanitary sewer mains, continued utility relocation, concrete removal at the intersection of 67th Ave, and electrical work.  
    Beginning next week please expect lane shifts on 67th Ave at the 211th Place intersection. This change should have little impact to traffic. Residents that live within the closure area on 211th Place (between 67th Dr and 67th Ave) please access 211th Pl via SR 530.
  • May 16, 2025 - Construction continued this week Monday – Thursday. Work included testing and tie-ins of the sanitary sewer mains, excavation of the old sanitary sewer force main, continued overhead utility relocation, and concrete removal at the intersection of 67th Ave.   Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include sanitary sewer connections, septic decommissioning, and water main installation. Phase 3 is closed to thru traffic for the safety of the construction crew on site and the public. Residents that live within the closure area on 211th Place (between 67th Dr and 67th Ave) please access 211th Pl via SR 530.  If you do not live within the closure area, please use the Phase 3 designated detour route when driving in this area.  
  • May 23, 2025 - This week construction continued on the 211thPlace Corridor Improvement project Monday – Thursday. Work included continued overhead utility relocation, concrete removal at the intersection of 67th Ave, watermain installation, sewer connections, and fence installation.   Next week work is scheduled to continue Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include waterline testing and sampling, fire hydrant installation, installation of water services, and fence installation.   • June 6, 2025 - Work on the 211thPlace Corridor Improvement project continued this week Monday – Friday. Work included continued overhead utility relocation, water sampling, water tie-ins, storm system installation, and grading of trail. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include stormwater system installation, placing of base course, setting of concrete forms, and continued overhead utility relocation. Phase 3 is closed to thru traffic for the safety of the construction crew on site and the public. Access onto 211th Pl from both directions of 67th Ave remains closed to all traffic. Residents that live within the closure area on 211th Place (between 67th Dr and 67th Ave) please access 211th Pl via SR 530. If you do not live within the closure area, please use the Phase 3 designated detour route when driving in this area.  The 211th Place Corridor is tentatively scheduled to reopen on June 26th.  
  • June 13, 2025 - This week work continued on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Monday – Friday. Work included continued overhead utility relocation, storm system installation, grading on the east end, electrical installation, placing of base course, concrete work, and minor corrections of the asphalt roadway at the 66th Ave (Ronning Rd) intersection. Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday-Wednesday and Friday (Thursday holiday) between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include placing of base course, concrete work, continued overhead utility relocation, and paving of the roadway.Phase 3 is closed to thru traffic for the safety of the construction crew on site and the public. Access onto 211th Pl from both directions of 67th Ave remains closed to all traffic. Residents that live within the closure area on 211th Place (between 67th Dr and 67th Ave) please access 211th Pl via SR 530. If you do not live within the closure area, please use the Phase 3 designated detour route when driving in this area.  The 211th Place Corridor is currently scheduled to reopen to the public on Friday, June 27th.  
  • June 23, 2025 - Work continued this week on the 211thPlace Corridor Improvement project Monday – Friday minus Thursday for the holiday. Work included continued overhead utility relocation, storm system testing, placing of base course, installation of lighting system, and concrete work, Next week work is scheduled to continue Monday- Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include installation of guard rails, landscaping, installation of extruded curb, concrete work, temporary striping, and paving of the roadway. Phase 3 is scheduled to open to the public at the end of day on Friday, June 27th. Please continue to use the Phase 3 designated detour route until the opening on Friday. Final striping and punch list items will occur after the opening. Final striping is scheduled to occur the week of July 7th and will be flagger controlled with single lane closures.
  • June 27, 2025 - Phase 3 of the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project will open at the end of business today to the public. A ribbon cutting will take place tomorrow, Saturday, June 28th between 12-1 at the intersection of 211th Place and 67thAve.Work continued this week on the project Monday – Friday and included installation of guardrails, landscaping, installation of extruded curb, concrete work, cleaning of the stormwater system, installation of mailboxes and signs, paving of the roadway and trail, temporary striping, and street sweeping. Next week work will continue on punch list items outside of the roadway. Final striping is scheduled to occur the week of July 7th and will be flagger controlled with single lane closures. Please be mindful of the workers when driving in the area.
    We thank you for your patience during this project. There were some unforeseen circumstances that delayed the project from outside utility relocations to archeological discoveries. Over 300 artifacts were discovered by the City’s Archeological consultant that was onsite in the Phase 3 area. More information about the artifacts can be found with the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians where they are now located.
  • July 3, 2025 - The 211th Place Corridor opened on Friday, June 27th at the end of business. This week out of roadway work was conducted. Next week additional out of roadway work and final striping is scheduled to occur. The striping will require single lane closures with flagger-controlled traffic.  Please expect short delays to your travel times and be mindful of the workers when driving in the area.
  • July 11, 2025 - This week final striping occurred on the 211th Place Corridor Improvement project Thursday and Friday. This marks the completion of all in roadway work for this project. The contractor will still be onsite the next few weeks completing punch list items. Please be mindful of workers when driving in this area.
