Water Treatment Plant Expansion
Project Description
The City of Arlington will be expanding its water treatment capacity with the addition of additional filtration units. The additional filtration unit will be located in a new filtration building that will be constructed on the site of the old water treatment plant filtration building.

Project Updates
- Sept 16, 2021 - Design awarded to BHC Consultants
- October 28, 2022 - Asbestos Abatement to begin week of November 7th.
- August 8, 2023 - WTP at 30% design, Working with Snohomish PUD to underground overhead electric wires serving Utility Plant in order to proceed with old plant demolition.
- April 4, 2024 - On April 11th, the City’s demolition contractor will begin work on demolishing the old Water Treatment Plant. Demolition of the building is estimated to be complete within 2 months. Once demolished, the site will be prepped for the planned expansion of the current Water treatment Plant.
- May 2, 2024 - Demolition of the old Water Treatment Plant building continued this week. The remaining work is estimated to be complete within one month. Once the site is cleared, geotechnical and survey work will occur for the planned expansion of the current Water Treatment Plant.
- May 10, 2024 - Demolition of the old Water Treatment Plant building was completed this week. Once the site is cleared, geotechnical and survey work will occur for the planned expansion of the current Water Treatment Plant; these remaining tasks are estimated to be complete within one month.
- June 11, 2024 - Geotechnical surveying to begin.
