Division / Broadway Corridor Improvements
Project Description
The City of Arlington will be repaving the existing asphalt on Division and Broadway from the roundabout at West Ave to SR 530/Burke Ave. The work will also include upgrading the current roundabouts on Division at West and Broadway by constructing raised truck aprons, improve channelization, and increase pedestrian safety with upgraded curb ramps and enhanced crosswalks with flashing beacons at the Broadway/Gilman and Centennial Trail crossings.

- May 30, 2025 - After many months of planning and design, the Division Broadway Restoration project is scheduled to begin construction after July 4th. An exact start date will be posted as we get closer to July. This project includes resurfacing of the Division St and Broadway St corridor, improvements to the two roundabouts, and upgrading of existing curb ramps and pedestrian facilities. This project will provide for the controlled and safe movement of pedestrians, vehicles and bicycles through the corridor and intersections.
June 27, 2025 - The Division Broadway Restoration project has been scheduled to begin construction Monday, August 4th. This project includes resurfacing of the Division St and Broadway St corridor, improvements to the two roundabouts, and upgrading of existing curb ramps and pedestrian facilities. This project will provide for the controlled and safe movement of pedestrians, vehicles and bicycles through the corridor and intersections.
The project will be constructed in four phases; each phase will have roadway section closures with designated detour routes. Detour routes will be published on the City’s project webpage, in the weekly E-Newsletter, and via weekly email updates once we get closer to construction.July 31, 2025 - Construction will begin on the Division/Broadway Restoration project on August 4th. Phase 1 work will occur on Broadway Ave between Burke Ave and the Broadway/Division roundabout. Work includes replacement of curb/gutter, alley driveway replacement, enhanced bus pull-outs, new roadway striping, median construction and resurfacing Phase 1 road section. Gilman Street crossing Broadway Avenue will remain open during Phase I construction for access to business. Please use the posted detour route above for phase 1.
August 8, 2025 - Phase 1 of the Division-Broadway Restoration project began construction on Monday, August 4th. Phase 1 work is on Broadway Ave between Burke Ave and the Broadway/Division roundabout. This week work included mobilization, installation of erosion control, concrete demolition, asphalt removal, roadway excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, and concrete work. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday – Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued installation of crushed surface base course, concrete work, and installation of the stamped concrete.
Phase 1 is estimated to be complete by August 30th. Please use the designated detour route when traveling or accessing local businesses in the area. Gilman Ave crossing Broadway is open for local and business traffic. Once phase 1 is complete, phase 2 will begin. A detour map for phase 2 will be available next week on the project webpage. Work is scheduled to include continued installation of crushed surface base course, sidewalk work, installation of ADA and driveway ramps, and installation of the stamped concrete.

Work included roadway excavation, continued installation of crushed surface base course, pouring of concrete sidewalks, driveway cuts, and ADA ramps, along with installation of stamped concrete in the center median. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday – Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include installation of topsoil, paving of the base lift, and paving of the final lift between Burke Ave and Gilman Ave. The final lift south of Gilman Ave. will be completed with Phase 2 paving.

Phase 2 is scheduled to begin construction on Tuesday, September 2nd. A detour map for phase 2 is now available above. For locations of each phase please see the phasing map.August 29, 2025 - Phase 1 opened this morning to the public on the Division / Broadway Restoration project. This week construction occurred Monday – Thursday with roadway cleanup, final paving and Phase 2 traffic control set up. The contractor will return to phase 1 when the raining season starts to complete the landscaping. Broadway Ave and Division St will be open to the public over Labor Day weekend.
On Tuesday, September 2nd the phase 2 closure will begin. This work is estimated to be complete by October 6th. Next week construction will occur Tuesday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include mobilization, roadway excavation, removal of concrete, asphalt demolition, stormwater catch basin relocation, and installation of rolled curbs. Please use the designated detour route when traveling or accessing local businesses in the area. Temporary bus stops are available for Community Transit users.September 5, 2025 - On Tuesday, September 2nd the phase 2 closure began on the Division/Broadway project. Phase 2 is estimated to be complete by October 13th. This week construction occurred Tuesday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work included mobilization, roadway excavation, removal of concrete, asphalt demolition, and installation of rolled curbs. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday-Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is to include continued sidewalk removal, grading, and concrete work. Please use the designated detour route when traveling or accessing local businesses in the area. All trucks traveling westbound on HWY 530 shall use HWY 9 as the designated truck route. Temporary bus stops are available for Community Transit users. Detour maps are also available above.
September 12, 2025 - Construction continued this week in the phase 2 area on the Division/Broadway Restoration project. Phase 2 is estimated to be complete by October 13th. September 19, 2025 - This week construction continued in the Phase 2 area on the Division/Broadway Restoration project. Phase 2 is estimated to be complete by October 13th. This week construction occurred Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work included removal of concrete, asphalt demolition, and pouring of vertical curbs. The removal of the center island concrete was due to an error by the sub-contractor; however, this should not delay the project schedule. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday-Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued roadway excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, pouring of new truck apron, and grinding and base lift of roadway. All concrete work is weather dependent.
September 26, 2025 - This week construction continued in the Phase 2 area on the Division/Broadway Restoration project. Phase 2 is estimated to be complete and open on October 13th. Phase 3 is currently scheduled to begin on October 13th. This week construction occurred Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work included installation of crushed surface base course, pouring of stamped concrete and rolled curb, along with paving of the base lift. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday-Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued installation of crushed surface base course, pouring of stamped concrete and sidewalks, along with paving of the top lift. All concrete work and paving are weather dependent.
October 10, 2025 - This week construction continued on the Division Broadway Restoration project with the closure of phase 3. Phase 3 of the project is estimated to be complete by November 3rd. This week work included demolition of concrete, asphalt removal, road excavation, and installation of crushed surface base course. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday-Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include road excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, stormwater improvements, and pouring of concrete curb. All concrete work is weather dependent.
October 17, 2025 - Construction continued this week in Phase 3 and Phase 4 on the Division Broadway Restoration project Monday – Friday. This week work included demolition of concrete, asphalt removal, road excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, pouring of concrete curb and the installation of the truck apron. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday-Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued road excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, stormwater improvements, installation of sidewalk, pouring of concrete curb and stamped concrete. All concrete work is weather dependent. Work within Phase 4 may occur to maximize the good weather window.
October 24, 2025 - Construction continued this week in Phase 3 and Phase 4 on the Division Broadway Restoration project Monday - Friday. This week work included asphalt removal, road excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, pouring of concrete curb, stormwater improvements, and the installation of driveway cuts and ADA ramps. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday - Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued road excavation, installation of crushed surface base course, installation of sidewalk, pouring of stamped concrete, installation of permanent signage, landscaping in phase 3 and 4, grinding of the roadway, and paving of the base and top lift. All concrete work and paving are weather dependent.
October 31, 2025 - Construction continued in Phase 3 and Phase 4 this week on the Division / Broadway Restoration project. Work included grading, flat work, pouring of sidewalk, the installation of driveway cuts and ADA ramps, installation of permanent signage, paving of base and top lift of roadway, and pouring of stamped concrete. Next week work is scheduled to occur Monday - Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Work is scheduled to include continued grading and flat work, installation of sidewalk, pouring of stamped concrete, installation of permanent signage, and landscaping in Phase 3 and 4. All concrete work and paving are weather dependent. The reopening of Phase 3 is now scheduled for Friday, November 7th due to weather delays. The contractor was able to complete the Phase 4 work with the Phase 3 closure, so no additional closure will be required for Phase 4. Work outside of the travel lanes will continue after the road is open.
November 5, 2025 - The Division / Broadway Restoration project will open mid-day Friday, November 7th. Construction this week included, pouring of sidewalk and stamped concrete, paving of driveways, landscaping, and roadside cleanup. Over the next two weeks work will continue throughout all phases of the project with landscaping, installation of permanent signage, roadside cleanup, and permanent striping (weather dependent). Please expect possible lane shifts, and shoulder closures throughout the project. No work is scheduled on Tuesday, November 11th due to the holiday.
November 14, 2025 - The Division / Broadway Restoration project opened to the public last Friday. Over the next two weeks work will continue throughout all phases of the project with landscaping, installation of permanent signage, roadside cleanup, and permanent striping (weather dependent). Please expect possible lane shifts and shoulder closures throughout the project.
November 21, 2025 - This week work continued on the Division / Broadway Restoration project with the installation of permanent striping and iron raising of utilities. No work is scheduled for next week.
November 26, 2025 - No work occurred this week on the Division/Broadway Restoration project. Next week work is scheduled Monday – Friday with roadside cleanup, raising of the utility iron, and installation of temporary lane striping (weather dependent).
December 5, 2025 - The installation of temporary striping began this week on the Division/Broadway Restoration project. Next week work is scheduled Thursday – Friday with raising of the utility iron. This work will require temporary lane closures.
December 12, 2025 - Due to the flooding and weather this week, no work was completed. Next week work is scheduled to include punch list items and possible landscaping depending on the landscape contractor’s availability after flood cleanup on their site.
December 19, 2025 - All striping is now complete on the 2025 UPP project. Punchlist and area restoration is scheduled to be completed as weather permits. No work will occur during the holiday season.
January 2, 2026 - No work occurred during the holidays. Project punch list items are scheduled to be completed this week. Landscape and signage installation will begin in early January 2026.
January 7, 2026 - The city’s contractor will begin installing the landscaping on the Division Broadway Restoration project tomorrow, January 8th. They will be on-site tomorrow and Friday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. This work might require lane shifts and/or flaggers to control traffic in certain areas along Broadway Ave. and Division St. Please remember to drive slowly in the construction zone when workers and equipment are present for the safety of all in the area.
January 9, 2026 - This week work continued on the Division /Broadway Restoration project with punch list items and the installation of landscaping. Next week work is scheduled to include continued landscaping and installation of permanent signage. This work might require lane shifts and flaggers to control traffic in certain areas. Work is scheduled to occur Monday and Tuesday between the construction hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Please expect short delays to your travel times if driving in this area during construction hours.
January 15, 2026 - Work continued this week on the Division /Broadway Restoration project with the installation of landscaping and permanent signage. Next week, work is scheduled to include final punch list items. All roadway work is now complete besides the final striping. Final roadway striping will be installed in the spring when the temperatures increase, and pavement conditions are dry.
